With 155,501 calls for service in 2020, Jacksonville enters the national top 10 for busiest fire and rescue departments.
Firehouse magazine’s latest National Run Survey ranks the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) as the ninth busiest department in the country.
JFRD is also the second busiest department in Florida, according to the survey. Out of JFRD’s 155,501 calls for service in 2020, the unit that responded more than any other was Engine 22 with 4,499 calls. Engine 22 was the 20th busiest engine in the country.
Firehouse listed Los Angeles City as the nation's busiest department with 439,330 calls for service in 2020. Miami-Dade County was the busiest department in Florida, and fourth busiest nationally, responding to 242,027 calls for service in 2020.
