Today, the class finally got their day of fun at the zoo, but first they stopped by Fire Station 37 to meet some of the crew members who responded on that April morning.
The visit gave students a chance to see the station up close and spend time with the crew members who responded that April morning. For the students, it was a chance to reconnect with the people who helped them. For the firefighters and paramedics, it was something far less common. It was a chance to see the people they helped healthy and smiling.
“We’re used to showing up on the hard days,” said Director/Fire Chief Percy Golden II. “Being invited back for the happy one is a gift for our crews.”
“This was such a dream come true for our little kindergarteners,” said San Pablo Elementary School principal, Jennifer Brown. “Not only did they finally get to experience the joy and wonder of the zoo, but they got to reconnect with the same heroes who supported them through such a challenging day. We really appreciate JFRD for helping make today so special for our students.”
Not a bad day for anyone involved.

This turn of events required canceling their field trip.
