JFRD to Honor 28 Fallen Firefighters at Annual Memorial Ceremony

December 01, 2025
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department will gather at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial on December 11, 2025, to honor the 28 firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty serving our city.
The annual ceremony brings together JFRD personnel, families of the fallen, city officials, and community members to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting Jacksonville.

“Each name etched on this wall represents a firefighter who gave everything in service to this city,” said Chief Percy Golden II. “Twenty-eight stories of courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood. When we gather each year, we stand not only for them, but for every firefighter who carries their legacy forward.”

The Fallen Firefighter Memorial serves as a permanent tribute to the men of JFRD who answered their final call. The 28 names represent generations of firefighters who worked Jacksonville’s streets, protected its neighborhoods, and carried the city through its darkest moments.

“These firefighters wore the same badge our current personnel wear today,” Chief Golden added. “Their families need to see that we still remember, that their loved ones still matter to this department and this community.”

Ceremony Details:
Date: Thursday, December 11, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Fallen Firefighter Memorial, Fire Station 1, 611 North Liberty Street
Open to the public

The ceremony will include JFRD Honor Guard, Pipes and Drums, reading of names, and the addition of two names to the memorial.
