Jacksonville Beach Dedicates Street To Fallen JFRD Firefighter, Ian Church

August 30, 2025
Family, friends, and fellow firefighters gathered in Jacksonville Beach to honor Firefighter Ian Church with the dedication of a street sign bearing his name. The ceremony marked one year since his passing and served as a permanent reminder of his service to both Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the beach community he helped protect.

The event opened with a prayer led by Priest Mason Wiggins and was attended by Church’s family, friends, city leaders, and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department colleagues. His wife led a moving tribute during the dedication, reflecting the strength of his family and the bond they continue to share with the community.

Church began his career with JFRD in 2021 and quickly earned respect for his dedication and professionalism. In June 2024, he was promoted to engineer, a role he embraced with the same energy and commitment that defined his career.

Though his life was cut short by cancer in August 2024, his legacy lives on through his children, who will grow up surrounded by reminders of his service and love. The newly dedicated street sign stands as a lasting tribute to his memory and the values he represented.
