J.E.M.A.

The Jacksonville Emergency Medical Auxiliary (JEMA) is a corp of new and experienced EMS providers that serve as additional staffing for the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department's Rescue Division. JEMA is seeking volunteers who hold a current Florida EMT license, or a Florida paramedic license, or who are a Florida licensed physician in a relevant field.

Members are expected to attend two meetings and work three events every six months, in addition to volunteering for at least two rescue rides every two months. JEMA provides training sessions at least once a quarter, and members are required to attend three of four sessions or demonstrate proficiency to the training offer.

Current JEMA members include flight medics, critical care medics, ER and OR nurses with EMS certifications, and SWAT Medics. Whether you are a seasoned provider looking to stay connected to the field, a new EMT eager to gain experience, or a life-long volunteer, there is a spot for you in JEMA.

Inoculations and TB tests are available to each JEMA member in good standing. EMS re-certification is also available to full and life members in good standing.

E-mail Capt. Eric Mitchell for more information.
