The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) serves about 900,000 residents in an area covering 840 square miles. The department employs more than 1,400 personnel.
JFRD's budget for Fiscal Year 2019 is $234 million.
There are five divisions:
JFRD has 58 fire stations, 55 engine companies, 56 full-time rescue units and 13 ladder trucks. All of this apparatus contains advanced lifesaving equipment.
JFRD responded to 151,237 calls for service in 2018. Of those, nearly 83,000 calls included patient transport to area hospitals.
